Prison Fellowship, through its national organizations, carries on the Angel Tree project that tries to reach out to the prisoners' children.

Goal:  the preservation or restoration of the inmate`s relationship with his family, and especially the relationship with his children
Beneficiaries: the families and children of prisoners
Program’s activities:

• material support for families of prisoners (the program aims to give some material support- with food packages, clothes, shoes, school supplies)
• spiritual assistance (offering of religious literature, spiritual counseling)

Activities:
Last year, in 2009, around Christmas, God provided for 270 children whose mom or dad was serving time in Gherla Prison or in the Outer Section Cluj-Napoca to be included in a similar project initiated by our foundation. Christian volunteers and prison authorities helped us to contact the prisoners and to make a list of their children' names and addresses. With their enthusiastic consent, we visited their families, delivered gifts to the children (Christmas parcels received from Humedica International and New Testaments) and comforted them with a kind word in the name of their incarcerated parent.
The same action was carried out with the Christmas Easter of 2010, this time bringing to nearly 90 families of prisoners food packages

Expected results:

• preparing a favorable environment for prisoners returning into the family
• reducting adverse effects of separation from parents (feelings of abandonment, emotional and behavioral problem associated with).
