The Christian Centre for Homeless People

MISSION

This center's mission is to find solutions for the present problems of homeless people, to prevent the risks that come from the absence of a home (especially the risk of committing crimes).

Our final objective is to prevent and reduce the crime rate among homeless people and to offer a residential home where our clients can benefit from psycho-social and spiritual support so that in time they can achieve social reintegration.

LOCATION

Prison Fellowship Romania received a building on Sobarilor Street, no 29, from Cluj-Napoca Municipality, a building which we turned into a residential center.

BENEFICIARI

Presently, 70 adults aged between 18 and 78 years are the beneficiaries of The Christian Center For Homeless People. Of these, 30 are women and 40 men.

To be accepted at our center, the beneficiaries must meet the following conditions: the absence of a home, be aged between 18 and 84 years, have the capacity to work, the absence of psychiatric disturbance. Once accepted into the Center, the assisted person can benefit from our services for a period of 24 months.

Besides these 70 persons, through the same program, Prison Fellowship Romania offers daily meals and the payment of rent for 15 needy persons who live outside the Center.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

In order to achieve the goals we've set, through our program we develop the following activities with the assisted persons:

  • activities that ensure the fulfilment of primary needs (shelter, food, clothes and medical assistance),
  • psychological assistance (establishing and implementing psychological intervention according to specific problems, organizing support groups, obtaining and developing self-control and communication abilities),
  • and activities that aim to develop social skills (obtaining identity cards for those who have none, facilitating access to training and re-qualification courses, offering support in obtaining a job, helping to obtain unemployment allowances and dependant allowances, etc., offering information regarding the clients' rights and obligations)
  • spiritual and entertainment activities
