Night Shelter

MISSION
The objectives of this center are: providing a shelter
during the night and social reintegration for homeless people
in Cluj-Napoca. The specific objectives are: medical and
hygienic assistance, offering a meal, providing a place
to sleep, psychological assistance according to the specific
of every case, developing social skills for living in community.

LOCATION
The activity of the Center takes place in a building received
from the Cluj-Napoca City Council. The Building, an ex-school,
restaurated and transformed in order to serve for the actual destination,
is situate on 29 Oasului Street.
BENEFICIARES
The beneficiaries of this center are 92 homeless people who
can enter the center every night at 18:30 p.m and they must go
out of the center in the morning.
The Night Shelter Ruchama also houses for a period of 3-10 days
juvenile delinquents untill the Police of Cluj-Napoca finishes
their investigation.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
First thing we make sure that the persons assisted do not carry
any alcohol, drugs or weapons as these are forbidden during their
stay in the center.
Next, after they are awshed and disinfected, the beneficiares
get a place to sleep where, besides resting, they have the possibility
of reading or playing.
In the morning, after cleaning the rooms in which they slept,
they have to leave the center. For the daytime, we are trying
to find them a place to work and those who cannot find a job are
using their time to work for the community.
PARTNERS
Once a week, the beneficiares recieve spiritual assistence from
an orthodox priest, the coordinator of the shelter being also
a missionary priest.
For developing this programme, Prison Fellowship Romania benefits
from a direct partenership with Cluj-Napoca Municipality and the
city police.
The University of Cluj is also providing a number of 25 students
as volunteers of the Night Shelter RuchamA.
In addition to this, Bonus Pastor Foundation develops in the
center a program for the persons addicted to alcohol and/or drugs.
